This series looks at future history and questions what we take for granted as 'the truth'. On the surface, it examines Hollywood sensationalizing, misrepresenting and desensitising our understanding and responses to war and invasion with movies such as Star Wars.
A slight departure from the process used in the They Came series, which was based on Sci-Fi films from the 50's, it deliberately uses such technology to emphasise the evolution of filmmaking and the way that stories are told.
The works as a whole function satirically as a story within a story. They present as a pastiche of film stills from sci-fi movies from that era, referencing real historical events using domestic kitsch as substitutes for the actual horror.
Whilst principal photography was primarily shot on the iPhone, the series was montaged in Photoshop to emulate Hollywood's CGI surrealism that came about in the 70's.
