They Came

They Came is an autobiographical series that uses dark humour and lo-fi sci-fi tropes to explore suburban anxiety, apocalyptic scenarios and the quiet dread that nature is reclaiming the edges of the city.

Each tableau is built from hand-cut props, overhead projectors and live performance – an homage to Ed Wood Jr.'s charmingly awkward B-movie aesthetic – captured in a single exposure and finished digitally. Selected works are held in the collections of Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery and ArtBank.
